Pre-Diagnosis

Everything exhausts you?

Your GP has referred you for an ME or Long Covid assessment but the appointment won’t be for some time?

So, what is ME? How can you help yourself while you wait for a confirmed diagnosis?

‘I was a runner, that was how I kept fit. Every time I felt a bit better I tried to go back to running and then got worse again. Every time. It was probably the worst thing I could have done. I had no idea – no-one told me”.

Feedback from patients indicates pacing is the most successful single help for ME .

If you’re post-viral, effective pacing could give your body the chance it needs to begin to recover. If you do have M.E. or Long Covid, pacing can help you manage your condition and avoid making things worse in the crucial early months of your illness.

And if you’re ultimately diagnosed  with a different energy limiting condition, pacing will have done no harm, reducing your demands on your body may even have helped.

“I was working, I had a busy social life. I tried to push through in the early days. I think I made things much, much worse”

"No need to have a diagnosis. No matter where you live. Join us for peer-support & to ask questions while you wait for assessment. If you’re eventually diagnosed and treated for a condition that’s not ME or Long Covid, we’ll be delighted to say goodbye!"

Exhaustion can be lonely.

Family gatherings may be too much effort. You skip meetings with friends. If you’re signed off ill you lose social contact with your colleagues. People may not understand why you are ‘missing’.

Making contact with people who know what it’s like, who understand and can discuss ways to deal with the issues you’re facing, maybe tell you how they do it. That can help you feel less alone.
